Empowering 1 Crore Households with Free Solar Electricity

PM Surya Ghar Logo

Why is the PM Surya Ghar Scheme Important?

Launched by the Government of India, the PM Surya Ghar scheme is a landmark initiative aimed at promoting renewable energy at the grassroots level. Its primary goal is to install rooftop solar systems for one crore households, providing them with up to 300 units of free electricity every month. This scheme is a crucial step towards achieving India's climate goals, reducing the carbon footprint of the nation, and ensuring energy security for its citizens.

How Will You Benefit?

Free Electricity & Savings

Generate your own power and save significantly on electricity bills. Households can save up to ₹15,000 - ₹18,000 annually.

Earn by Selling Surplus Power

Sell any excess electricity generated by your system back to the grid (DISCOMs) and create an additional source of income.

EV Charging at Home

The surplus power can be used to conveniently charge your electric vehicle at home, promoting sustainable transport.

Contribute to a Greener Planet

By adopting solar, you directly contribute to reducing pollution and combating climate change for a sustainable future.

Subsidy Structure for Assam & Special Category States

The government provides substantial Central Financial Assistance (CFA) combined with state subsidies, making rooftop solar highly affordable. As Assam is a special category state, residents receive enhanced benefits.

SL No Type of Residential Segment CFA (Special Category States) (in Rs.) State Subsidy (in Rs.) Total Subsidy (in Rs.)
1 1 Kw ₹ 33,000 ₹ 15,000 ₹ 48,000
2 2 Kw ₹ 66,000 ₹ 30,000 ₹ 96,000
3 3 Kw and Above ₹ 85,800 ₹ 45,000 ₹ 1,30,800

How to Apply: Step-by-Step Procedure

1
Registration

Visit the official National Portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) and register with your electricity consumer number, mobile number, and email.

2
Apply for Rooftop Solar

Log in and fill out the application form. You will need to get a feasibility approval from your local DISCOM, which is usually processed quickly.

3
Installation

Once approved, select a registered vendor (like Omnis Solar) from the portal to install the plant as per technical specifications.

4
Net Metering

After installation, submit the plant details online and apply for a net meter. The DISCOM will inspect the system and install the meter.

Once the net meter is installed, the DISCOM will generate a commissioning certificate on the portal. Submit your bank details and a cancelled cheque.

6
Subsidy in Your Account

The Central Government will release the subsidy directly into your bank account within 30 days of commissioning.
