Yes, grid-connected solar systems require a net meter (or gross meter, depending on your state's policy) to be installed by your local electricity distribution company, which measures power exported to and imported from the grid. We assist with the net-metering application as part of our installation process.
A standard grid-tied solar system automatically shuts off during a grid power cut for safety reasons (anti-islanding protection), unless it is paired with a battery backup or hybrid inverter setup. Ask us about hybrid/battery-backed options if backup power during outages is a priority for you.
